1. Introduction

FriendsIRL ("we", "us", or "our") helps you stay in touch with the friends who matter most by scheduling regular calls and making it easy to actually follow through. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using FriendsIRL, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information — your email address and name when you sign up.
• Scheduling preferences — call frequency, preferred duration, and availability windows you set during onboarding or in settings.
• Calendar data — when you connect Google Calendar, we access your free/busy information only. We never read event titles, descriptions, attendees, or any other event details.
• Friend connections — email addresses of friends you invite and accept invites from.
• Usage data — basic logs of actions taken in the app (e.g., calls scheduled, invites sent) to help us improve the product.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To schedule calls between you and your friends at times that work for both of you.
• To send you reminders, invites, and scheduling updates via email.
• To display your connections and call history on your dashboard.
• To improve the product based on how it's being used.

We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only as necessary to operate the product:

• Supabase — our database and authentication infrastructure. Your data is stored on Supabase's servers with row-level security so only you can access your own data.
• Google — if you connect Google Calendar, Google processes your OAuth flow and provides us with your free/busy data under their own privacy terms.
• Resend — our email delivery provider. Your email address is passed to Resend solely to deliver scheduling emails and notifications.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal reasons.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@usefriendsirl.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and short-lived OAuth access tokens. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the app before the change takes effect. Your continued use of FriendsIRL after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
